Zenit Saint Petersburg is reportedly considering a move for Flamengo midfielder Gerson, potentially offering Wendel plus €5 million. While no official offer has been submitted, the Russian club’s interest in the 28-year-old Brazilian has resurfaced.
Flamengo is unlikely to negotiate unless the offer meets Gerson’s €25 million release clause. The Brazilian club is firm on the valuation of their midfielder and will not entertain offers below this amount.
Zenit’s strategy involves first securing an agreement with Gerson himself. If the player agrees to the terms offered by the St. Petersburg team, Flamengo will be unable to prevent the transfer, regardless of their own valuation.
Gerson is currently under contract with Flamengo until the end of 2030. His market value is estimated to be €25 million. In his time with Flamengo, he has played 250 matches, scoring 18 goals and providing 34 assists.
