Yekaterinburg to Receive Additional Articulated Buses by 2025

Yekaterinburg is set to expand its fleet with a second delivery of articulated buses by the end of 2025, bringing the total number of these long buses to 30. The city has already started receiving the initial batch of 15 vehicles.

The first five of these long, green Volgabus buses arrived in the city’s parks on June 10. These buses traveled from Volzhsky, where they were manufactured.

The new articulated buses are planned to serve the busiest routes, specifically routes No. 49 and 51, starting August 1.

Upon arrival, the buses will be equipped with validators and registered with the State Traffic Inspectorate.

The Volgabus 6271G2 “CityRhythm-18 DLF” is designed to accommodate up to 184 passengers, including 38 seated and 4 spaces for individuals with disabilities.

Each bus includes air conditioning and heating systems, information boards displaying stops, temperature, and time, a kneeling system for easier boarding, driver call buttons, and a wheelchair ramp.

The city’s previous articulated buses, Ikarus models purchased in the late 1990s, were gradually retired between 2020 and 2021 due to their age.

In addition to the buses, Yekaterinburg plans to acquire a fleet of three-section trams. These transportation upgrades are part of the ongoing transport reform overseen by Vice-Mayor Rustam Galyamov.
