Schoolchildren in Yekaterinburg who took the OGE (state exam) in chemistry have had their lost points returned after errors were found in the exam keys. The errors in tasks #18 and 19 caused the system to mark correct answers as incorrect.
The control and measuring materials (KIM) were corrected, and students who answered correctly received two additional points. The updated results have been loaded into the system.
Tatiana Bulatova, a parent who advocated for her daughter, said, “This is definitely a victory, and it was not easy.” She had contacted several educational authorities, including FIPI, Rosobrnadzor, RTsOI, and IMC.
The issue was resolved after contacting the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI), which provides KIM for the OGE and EGE (Unified State Exam). FIPI has updated the answers to the relevant tasks in its open bank of test questions.
Bulatova emphasized the importance of addressing errors in the test section of tasks with short answers. “In understanding the problem, I realized that our children are not protected from errors or typos if they are contained in the first, test part of the tasks with a short answer,” she said. There is no formal way to challenge the first part of the exam on its merits.
Bulatova suggests establishing a mechanism for controlling FIPI and giving children the right to appeal in the first part of the task. She voiced her frustration that as a parent, she had to contact the expert community herself.
Other parents have confirmed that their children received the returned points. One student was able to raise her grade from a four to a five, improving her chances of entering the 10th grade.
