Passengers traveling from Sharm el-Sheikh to Yekaterinburg are facing significant delays after their flight was forced to return to the departure airport. The Almasria Universal Airlines flight UJ661, scheduled to arrive in Yekaterinburg on June 6th, experienced technical issues mid-air, causing considerable disruption and uncertainty for those on board.
The aircraft departed Sharm el-Sheikh with an initial one-hour delay, but after approximately three hours in the air, it began circling before eventually landing back at the Egyptian airport. Passengers were reportedly kept on the plane during this time, with no immediate explanation provided.
The arrival time at Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg was repeatedly pushed back. Initial estimates placed arrival at 4:30 AM local time, but the expected time was later moved to 8:00 AM.
Airport authorities at Koltsovo have not released any specific details regarding the reason for the delay. Attempts to reach the airline for comment have been unsuccessful.
This incident follows a similar situation on May 30th, where another Almasria Universal Airlines flight was delayed for almost two days due to a mechanical problem. Passengers on that flight endured multiple trips to the airport, prolonged waiting periods, and were eventually returned to their hotels.
