Andrei Sukhanovsky, the son-in-law of a prominent Yekaterinburg developer, has been fined 15,000 rubles following a road rage incident and subsequent fight with Eduard Kurmanov on April 17, 2024. A magistrate found Sukhanovsky guilty of battery under Article 6.1.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
The conflict occurred in the parking lot of the “Parus” business center, after Sukhanovsky, driving an Infiniti QX80/QX56, drove onto the sidewalk, where he encountered Kurmanov in a right-hand drive Nissan. Sukhanovsky reportedly became angry, believing Kurmanov was blocking his path and threatened to assault him.
The altercation escalated when Sukhanovsky allegedly struck Kurmanov through the car window. Kurmanov responded by deploying a gas canister. Both men then exited their vehicles and continued arguing.
The confrontation turned physical, with Sukhanovsky reportedly landing five blows on Kurmanov, including hits to the head, resulting in bruises. During the fight, Kurmanov allegedly broke Sukhanovsky’s nose. Passers-by eventually intervened to stop the brawl.
While Kurmanov sustained minor injuries, preventing the case from escalating to criminal charges for Sukhanovsky, Sukhanovsky had also filed a lawsuit against Kurmanov, seeking 1.4 million rubles for harm to health, based on the broken nose he sustained in the clash. A criminal case was opened against Kurmanov under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and that trial is ongoing.
