Yaroslavl Region Extends Mobile Internet Restrictions Due to Drone Threat

The Yaroslavl region has prolonged the restrictions on mobile internet access due to ongoing concerns about potential drone attacks. This decision, announced by the regional Ministry of Regional Security on June 2nd, aims to safeguard residents and critical infrastructure.

Authorities emphasize that the measure is precautionary and there is currently no immediate threat of a UAV attack. The government is asking residents to understand the “temporary inconvenience.”

The mobile internet disruptions in the Yaroslavl region initially began on the evening of May 6th. These measures are intended to prevent possible provocations involving unmanned aerial vehicles.

Several other regions in Russia have also implemented similar mobile network restrictions in the past month. These include the Oryol, Vladimir, Lipetsk, Tula, and Voronezh regions.

Oryol Governor Andrei Klychkov has stated that such restrictions are a necessary response to drone attacks in his region. The Ivanovo region also recently restricted mobile internet operation to bolster security, according to Governor Stanislav Voskresensky.
