Police in Novosibirsk have apprehended a man and a woman suspected of robbing a 68-year-old woman in the entrance of an apartment building. The incident occurred on Tatyana Snezhina Street.
The robbery took place on the evening of June 9, when the victim was attacked in the entrance of her building. The assailants forcibly stole her bag, which contained a mobile phone and 20,000 rubles, bringing the total value of the stolen items to over 30,000 rubles.
Video footage from the scene shows the woman attempting to resist the attackers. Despite her efforts, she was knocked to the ground, and the suspects made off with her bag.
Law enforcement officers were able to locate and detain the suspects within a few hours of the crime. The suspects are a 37-year-old man with a prior criminal record and a 35-year-old woman.
The stolen property and money have been recovered by the police and returned to the woman.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which covers robbery. Authorities are currently determining the appropriate pre-trial restrictions for the suspects as the investigation continues.
