Weather forecast for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast on June 3rd

St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast are bracing for potential severe weather on June 3rd, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail in some areas. According to chief city meteorologist Alexander Kolesov, the atmospheric conditions are unstable, creating the possibility of localized intense weather events.

The Leningrad Oblast is expected to bear the brunt of the adverse weather, particularly its central regions. The area from Kingisepp, through Volosovo and Gatchina, is at the highest risk, with the weather system anticipated to move eastward and dissipate by evening.

St. Petersburg faces a more uncertain forecast. Brief showers are most probable in the southern parts of the city, affecting districts such as Krasnoye Selo, Pushkin, and Kolpino. There is a possibility of thunderstorms further south, with the sound of thunder potentially reaching these areas.

The meteorologist expressed hope that the city center would remain dry, citing a wind from the Gulf of Finland that could stabilize the air mass. The current air temperature in St. Petersburg is 17-19 degrees Celsius, with cooler temperatures near the water. The forecast for the following day predicts temperatures up to 20 degrees Celsius and no precipitation throughout the region.
