The combined wealth of Russia’s wealthiest entrepreneurs has surged by $20.163 billion since the beginning of 2025. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI), this increase reflects the rising value of shares in companies where these individuals hold significant stakes.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov experienced the most substantial individual gain, while Vladimir Potanin, owner of Nornickel, remains the wealthiest. The BBI index, which tracks the fortunes of the world’s wealthiest individuals, indicates that 20 Russians are among the top 500 richest people globally, with a combined wealth of $305.58 billion.
Vladimir Potanin’s wealth increased by $2.56 billion, bringing his total net worth to $30.4 billion. Lukoil co-owner Vagit Alekperov maintained his second-place position with a fortune of $26.5 billion, an increase of $1.18 billion. Severstal’s main shareholder Alexey Mordashov secured third place, adding $1.94 billion to his wealth, reaching $25.2 billion.
Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of Novatek, climbed to fourth place with a $1.46 billion increase, bringing his fortune to $23.8 billion. Conversely, Vladimir Lisin, a shareholder in Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), saw his capital decrease by $3.58 billion, with his current net worth estimated at $22.2 billion.
Andrey Melnichenko, former owner of EuroChem and SUEK, saw his fortune increase by $294 million, reaching $20.5 billion. Alisher Usmanov, a shareholder of Metalloinvest, added $3.12 billion to his wealth, maintaining his seventh-place position with a fortune of $16.3 billion. Mikhail Prokhorov, the founder of Onexim Group, holds the eighth position, with his fortune increasing by $553 million to $15.4 billion.
Pavel Durov’s fortune increased by $3.27 billion, putting him in ninth place with a total of $14.3 billion. Rounding out the top ten is Mikhail Fridman, the largest shareholder of Alfa Group, whose wealth decreased by $1.04 billion to $13.7 billion.
