Vyacheslav Shvedov, accused of defiling the grave of Yevgeny Prigozhin, is now on a wanted list after repeatedly neglecting to attend court hearings.
Daria Lebedeva, head of the United Press Service of the St. Petersburg courts, announced on June 5 that Shvedov has been evading the judicial process.
Lebedeva stated that the court had waited patiently through three missed appearances before issuing an order for Shvedov to be brought in.
Authorities were unable to locate Shvedov at his registered address, leading to his placement on the wanted list.
Lebedeva expressed confidence that Shvedov would eventually be apprehended and brought before the 94th judicial precinct.
The Krasnogvardeisky District Court of St. Petersburg initially registered the criminal case concerning the desecration on March 21.
The case details an incident on July 21, 2024, at the Porokhovskoye cemetery, where Shvedov allegedly affixed a poster with the word “Rooster” to Prigozhin’s monument.
He is also accused of posing for photographs in front of the monument while holding a poster bearing the inscription “Intelligence Noem Stepan Zasunko”.
Prior to this, there was a reported incident on July 20 where the monument was doused in white paint.
The following day, a cemetery guard detained a 36-year-old man from the Voronezh region, who was allegedly caught pasting insulting posters on Prigozhin’s grave.
