Volunteers in Yekaterinburg are working to save a dog named Chunya who suffered severe injuries after being caught in a lawnmower. The “Klyaksa” Foundation has taken responsibility for her care after her owners, unable to afford the extensive treatment, relinquished their ownership rights.
Chunya sustained horrific wounds when she was caught in the lawnmower. A layer of skin and fur was almost completely severed from her body, and she was abandoned in the grass. Due to the graphic nature of her injuries, photos are being withheld.
Chunya has already undergone initial surgery, including wound cleaning and sutures. Although her condition is serious, it is currently stable. The foundation reports that she is not eating on her own and requires assisted feeding. While she is not vomiting, she remains largely inactive and spends most of her time lying down.
The “Klyaksa” Foundation is actively seeking financial assistance to cover the costs of Chunya’s lengthy and complex treatment. The foundation acknowledges that the owners’ decision to surrender Chunya was difficult and declines to criticize them.
The foundation reports minimal discharge from the drain, temperature and pressure are within normal limits, she may show aggression, growls. The risk of deterioration remains.
This incident follows other recent reports of animal cruelty in the region.
