Violations Found During Repairs at the St. Petersburg Museum of Bread

The St. Petersburg Prosecutor’s Office has reported violations during repair work at the St. Petersburg Museum of Bread. The museum, housed in a wooden building on Mikhailova Street, is a recognized cultural heritage site.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the repairs on the first and second floors were carried out without the necessary permissions or an agreed-upon project from the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments. The work was conducted under a state contract.

Located at 2 Mikhailova Street, the two-story building is part of the “House of N. A. Pastukhov (with fence)” monument, which has been under state protection since 2001.

The Kalininsky district prosecutor has issued a representation to the museum’s director.

In response, museum employees have begun taking steps to rectify the violations and have pledged to improve oversight in preparing documentation for public procurement. The museum has committed to coordinating all future work with the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP).

The Museum of Bread is a state budgetary cultural institution. Until late April 2025, Marina Yakovleva was the director, after which Irina Bubyr became the acting director. Previously, the museum participated in the “Bread of the Blockade City” exhibition.
