St. Petersburg’s beaches may soon see increased security measures, including video surveillance, to protect infrastructure and ensure public safety. Alexey Fisyak, director of the “Kurortny Bereg” improvement institution, emphasized the necessity of these measures during a recent press conference.
The call for enhanced security comes as beaches in the Kurortny district undergo reconstruction and the installation of new equipment. The primary concern is safeguarding these improvements and maintaining order as visitor numbers surge. Fisyak highlighted the popularity of beaches like Laskovy, which recently saw an influx of over 7,000 visitors in a single day.
While some beaches, such as Laskovy, are already equipped with video surveillance, others, like Severny, are not. Efforts are underway to expand video surveillance coverage across all beaches in the district.
Significant investments are being made to improve beach facilities, with projects planned for Dubkovsky, Detsky, and Komarovsky beaches. These upgrades include the installation of new toilets, changing rooms, sun loungers, children’s and sports grounds, and decorative sculptures.
