Artur Rusinov has been sentenced for the murder of his ex-wife, Elvira Mufazalova, a Ural district police officer, whose body was discovered in the Biser River in April 2022. The Krasnoufimsk court found him guilty of the crime, along with an additional charge of producing child pornography.
Mufazalova died from drowning, with evidence of chopping wounds to her head. Rusinov used a sharpened entrenching tool, purchased online beforehand, to attack her. He then drowned her in her favorite fishing spot.
In addition to the murder charge, Rusinov was convicted of creating pornographic material involving children. He had secretly installed a camera in the bathroom of his home to record his new partner and her child while they were bathing.
The regional prosecutor’s office stated that the state prosecutor requested an 18-year sentence in a strict regime penal colony, followed by one year of restricted freedom.
Rusinov was apprehended by special forces. Although he initially denied any involvement in the crime and refused to undergo polygraph testing, evidence led to his conviction.
The victim’s mother expressed her belief that the killer would be found. The investigation faced initial challenges due to the absence of witnesses and clear evidence. Prior to the murder, the assailant, wearing a mask, had sent away Anatoly, Elvira’s ward, who was initially considered a suspect.
