Hollywood remains at a standstill as negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have been suspended.
The AMPTP stated that the gap between the two sides was too wide to bridge. No new talks are currently scheduled.
SAG-AFTRA expressed disappointment in the studios’ approach to bargaining. The union is fighting for better compensation, especially in the streaming era, as well as protections against the use of artificial intelligence. Actors are concerned about the potential for AI to replace them or devalue their work.
The work stoppage, which began in July, has already had a significant impact on the entertainment industry, halting production on numerous films and television shows. The strike is impacting not just actors, but also crew members and other industry professionals.
