Multiple Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeted Russian regions overnight, including Chuvashia, resulting in the temporary suspension of production at JSC “VNIIR” in Cheboksary. According to the Ministry of Defense, 49 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed and intercepted across various regions.
Oleg Nikolaev, the head of the Republic of Chuvashia, reported that there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the drone attacks. Two drones fell on the territory of JSC “VNIIR,” prompting the decision to temporarily halt production to ensure employee safety. Additional UAVs landed in fields within the Cheboksary and Krasnoarmeysky municipal districts, posing no immediate threat to the local population. Emergency services are currently operating at an enhanced level of readiness.
JSC “VNIIR” is identified as the All-Russian Research Institute of Relay Engineering, a prominent Russian manufacturer specializing in relay protection systems, automated control systems for substations, and electrical equipment spanning low, medium, and high voltage ranges.
In response to the heightened activity, temporary restrictions were implemented on nighttime ship traffic in Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, and Tambov. These restrictions, however, were lifted by the morning, as confirmed by a representative of Rosaviation.
