Ukrainian Drone Attack Causes Disruptions Across Multiple Russian Regions

Thirty-two Ukrainian drones were reportedly destroyed over Russia overnight, leading to fires, gas supply problems, and transport disruptions in several regions. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attacks targeted areas including the Volgograd, Crimea, Voronezh, Belgorod, Tambov, and Rostov regions.

The Volgograd region experienced significant impacts, with debris causing gas supply disruptions to approximately 65 private households in the Kotelnikovsky district. Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed that air defense forces repelled a massive UAV attack on transport and energy facilities. Fires broke out in the Surovikinsky district due to debris but were quickly extinguished. Railway traffic on the Kotelnikovo – Kanalnaya section was suspended due to debris on the infrastructure, resulting in delays for two long-distance passenger trains and one suburban train.

In the Voronezh region, Governor Alexander Gusev reported that five drones were shot down, with no casualties or destruction. The region was placed under a drone danger mode several times during the night. Similarly, the governor of the Belgorod region issued a warning about the drone threat but reported no damage or casualties.

The Rostov region saw a forest plantation catch fire near the M-4 “Don” highway, but the fire was extinguished without any injuries.

An industrial enterprise in the Penza region was also attacked, resulting in a fire. Governor Oleg Melnichenko stated that there were no casualties or destruction, and emergency services were working to extinguish the fire. Temporary restrictions on mobile internet were implemented for security purposes to aid in suppressing enemy UAVs. Additionally, Rosaviatsiya announced temporary restrictions on aircraft reception and departure at the Saratov airport, although local authorities did not report any drone activity in that area.
