Tyumen Tourist Reports No Negative Impact from Black Sea Vacation Following Oil Spill

A tourist from Tyumen, Olesya Evseeva, recently vacationed in Sochi with her daughter and reported no adverse effects from the previous year’s oil spill. Despite concerns about the environmental impact, Evseeva found the beaches clean and the sea free of fuel oil.

The five-day trip proved to be a pleasant experience. Evseeva specifically chose Sochi for its atmosphere and sea. The hotel, booked in advance, cost 28,000 rubles for a room with breakfast. She praised the service, cleanliness, and amenities.

The hotel’s buffet impressed Evseeva and her daughter with its variety and quality. They also enjoyed dining out, with a meal costing 1,500 rubles per person for unlimited dishes and drinks. Round-trip airfare for the two amounted to approximately 63,000 rubles.

The beaches were uncrowded in May, mostly populated by retirees. The sea was calm upon arrival, and Evseeva noted no traces of oil or unpleasant smells. Although waves brought seaweed ashore on the third day, preventing swimming, the water temperature was comfortable.

Evseeva also explored Sochi’s culinary scene, highlighting a “Mussel Place” where a seafood pot cost 740 rubles. The pair spent an additional 30,000 rubles on food, transportation, and souvenirs.

On a cooler day, they visited the Olympic Park and Imeretinskaya embankment. On their last day, they took a train to the Rosa Khutor ski resort, where they enjoyed the fresh air, despite the cloudy weather obscuring the mountain views.

Evseeva concluded that the vacation was a success, expressing a strong desire to return to Sochi. She encourages others considering a trip to the area not to be deterred by fears of environmental damage.
