Vika and Grisha, siblings from Tyumen who went missing in the Ural forest last summer, have been found alive, bringing relief and tears of joy to people across Russia. The extensive search involved both ground and aerial efforts, with many others offering support through prayers.
The search headquarters was closed exactly one year ago on June 8, marking the end of a grueling ordeal. The children, suffering from exhaustion, received initial treatment at a local hospital before being transported to their hometown of Tyumen via a disaster medicine service helicopter.
Grisha Krepp recounted their survival strategies, stating, “We all slept together, hugging, warming each other like penguins with the dogs. I filtered water through my T-shirt.” He also shared his emotional struggles, saying, “On the third day, I thought that we would not be found, that I would die. [And] I still have so much to [manage to do] in life! I want to visit different countries, many cities, and I will stay here in the forest? No! I also really wanted to save the lives of my dogs and Vika.”
A short video created by local news outlet 72.RU captures the emotional impact of the children’s rescue.
