A two-year-old girl is in intensive care after falling from a fourth-floor window in the Tosnensky district of the Leningrad region. The incident occurred in Telmana the night before, June 9th.

The girl sustained serious injuries consistent with a fall from a height. She suffered a brain contusion, internal organ damage, and fractures to her tibia and femur. An ambulance crew transported her to the hospital, where she was immediately admitted to intensive care.

According to preliminary information, the girl was in the kitchen with her 21-year-old mother, who was preparing dinner. The girl reportedly leaned on a mosquito net, which gave way, causing her to fall.

The Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Region has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Authorities are reminding parents of the dangers posed by open windows, mosquito nets, and furniture placed near windowsills, especially as the weather warms. This follows a rise in accidents involving young children. In April, a one-year-old boy in the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region was able to reach a window with the help of a toy car, highlighting the potential risks.
