A two-year-old girl is in intensive care after falling from a fourth-floor window in the Tosnensky district of the Leningrad region. The incident occurred in Telmana, where the child was reportedly in the kitchen with her 21-year-old mother.
Preliminary information suggests the girl leaned against a mosquito net, which gave way, leading to the fall. The child sustained serious injuries, including a brain contusion, internal organ damage, and fractures of the tibia and femur.
An ambulance transported the girl to a hospital, where she is currently receiving intensive care.
The Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Region is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have noted a rise in accidents involving young children as the weather warms. Law enforcement and investigative bodies are reiterating warnings about the dangers of open windows, unreliable mosquito nets, and furniture placed near windowsills. They emphasize that these factors can contribute to tragic accidents. As an example, a prior incident in April involved a one-year-old boy using a toy car to climb to a window in the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region.
