Two women in Siberia are facing criminal charges for allegedly stealing over 500,000 rubles worth of butter from their workplace, a local butter factory.

The regional prosecutor’s office reports that the two women, an operator and a warehouse head, worked at a butter factory in the Chanovsky district.

Between October 2024 and January 2025, they allegedly conspired to steal butter from the factory, later selling the product for personal gain.

Authorities claim that the women divided the money and used it for their own purposes, also falsifying accounting records to cover their tracks.

The Deputy Prosecutor of the Chansky District approved the indictment against the two women under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which addresses “Appropriation committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a large scale.”

If convicted, they could face up to six years in prison.

The criminal case has now been sent to the Chanovsky District Court for further review and legal proceedings.

In a separate incident in Novosibirsk, four young men were recently detained on suspicion of theft.
