Two Siberians have been found guilty in the death of a man during the loading of a tractor, according to a verdict delivered by the Leninsky District Court of Novosibirsk. The incident occurred on May 28, 2024.
The court found the driver and the shift supervisor guilty under Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which addresses violations of safety rules during construction or other works.
The driver failed to ensure the danger zone was clear while loading the tractor and ran over the man, who was on the platform. According to the case files, the victim was loading the tractor alone, despite protocol requiring a crew of two service department employees under the supervision of the shift supervisor.
The man sustained severe injuries and subsequently died in the hospital.
Both the driver and shift supervisor were initially sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a settlement colony. However, the sentence was replaced with forced labor, with a 5% deduction from their wages. Furthermore, the organization is required to pay 1,200,000 rubles to the deceased’s wife as compensation for moral damage.
