Yandex Go is developing a trip planning solution in Saint Petersburg to alleviate the burden on public transport. The service will be available in the Yandex Go app.

The new feature, located in the “Hub” section, will allow users to plan routes considering all available modes of transport, including taxis, e-scooters, and car sharing. The algorithms will consider distance, travel time, road congestion, the number of transfers, and travel costs to optimize routes.

According to Yandex Go analysts, 74% of the country’s residents use at least two types of public transport monthly. A significant portion, 54%, use three or more types, and 34% use four or more. Only 22% rely on a single mode of transport. The study analyzed passenger preferences in the first quarter of 2025.

Future plans include multimodal trips, combining metro and taxi or metro and scooter options. Neural networks will be utilized to create personalized routes, and intercity trip planning is also under development.

Alexander Anikin, CEO of Yandex Taxi, mentioned the potential for offering bus and train alternatives for intercity travel, building on their existing intercity taxi service.

By the end of 2025, Yandex Go plans to integrate options for purchasing travel passes, topping up physical transport cards, and issuing virtual cards.
