A tram caught fire at the “Opera Theater” stop in the center of Yekaterinburg, causing delays in tram services. The incident occurred on tram number 13, near the Iset Hotel, according to reports.
The fire has disrupted the movement of trams No. 2, 6, 13, 15, 16, and 18.
Eyewitnesses reported using fire extinguishers from a passing bus to combat the blaze. Rescuers have arrived at the scene to address the smoking tram.
While tram fires are infrequent in Yekaterinburg, minor incidents do occur. A tram on route 1 caught fire in Vtorchermet in May of last year. In 2019, there were reports of smoke in tram cars on separate occasions, including one incident on Volgogradskaya Street in December.
