Train traffic in the Voronezh region has been suspended after damage was discovered on a section of railway tracks. The incident occurred in the south of the region, prompting an immediate response from emergency services and railway personnel.
Several trains were stopped as a result of the track damage. The driver of one of the trains initially noticed the problem and reported it.
According to authorities, there were no casualties as a result of the incident.
Emergency services are currently at the scene investigating the cause of the damage. A recovery team from the South-Eastern Railway is also present to assess the situation and begin repairs.
Preliminary reports suggest the incident took place on the 725th kilometer of the Evdakovo-Saguny section in the Voronezh region. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the damage may have been caused by an explosion.
Russian Railways has confirmed that there was no derailment and no injuries sustained in the incident.
Similar incidents involving explosions on railway tracks have occurred recently in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Days prior, on June 1st, explosions were reported in both regions.
In the Bryansk region, the number of people affected by the emergency has risen to 119, including five children. In the Kursk region, a train driver was injured in a similar explosion.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened criminal cases under the article on terrorism in response to these incidents.
