Train Service to North Korea to Restart for Yekaterinburg Residents

Direct train service between Moscow and Pyongyang, North Korea, is set to resume on June 17, with stops including Yekaterinburg. The resumption marks the return of what is considered the world’s longest non-stop rail route.

The Pyongyang-Moscow route, spanning over 10,000 kilometers, will take approximately eight days to complete. Trains will depart from Pyongyang on the 3rd and 17th of each month, arriving in Moscow on the 11th and 25th.

Departures from Moscow are scheduled for the 12th and 26th of each month, with arrivals in Pyongyang expected on the 20th and 4th. Key stops along the route include Khabarovsk, Chita, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Yekaterinburg.

Train cars will originate in North Korea. Ticket sales are not yet available but are expected to open 60 days before departure.

In addition to the Moscow-Pyongyang route, direct trains from Khabarovsk to Pyongyang will begin operating on June 19, running once a month.

The rail service between Russia and North Korea had been suspended in February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
