A reserve diesel locomotive derailed in the Prokhorovsky district of the Belgorod region on June 6th, an incident believed to be caused by an explosive device placed beneath the railway tracks. The incident caused a temporary suspension of rail traffic for approximately two and a half hours.

No injuries were reported as a result of the derailment.

According to Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, train schedules returned to normal by 6:42 AM. Passengers affected by the disruption were transported by ETC buses to Prokhorovka station to continue their journeys.

The incident resulted in damage to a section of the railway track. Repair crews were promptly dispatched to the site to begin restoration efforts.

This incident follows a series of recent railway emergencies. On June 1st, a road bridge collapse in the Bryansk region resulted in debris falling onto a passenger train, causing casualties and injuries. Authorities reported that the bridge near the Vygonichi station had been blown up.

On the same day, a bridge in the Kursk region collapsed while a freight train was crossing, leading to injuries among the train crew. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has classified the bridge explosions in Bryansk and Kursk as terrorist attacks.

Furthermore, an attempted sabotage near the Crimean bridge was reported on June 3rd, and on June 5th, an explosion occurred on the railway in the Voronezh region, causing train delays but no injuries.
