The search for Malysh, a 13-year-old dog who escaped from St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, has tragically ended with the discovery of his body near the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD) highway. The dog was struck by a vehicle and died.
The heartbreaking discovery was made after a reader contacted Fontanka news outlet with information about a deceased dog matching Malysh’s description found on the WHSD. Volunteers from the Yuki Doma search team, along with Malysh’s owner, confirmed the identification.
Malysh, a mixed-breed dog resembling a Jack Russell Terrier, went missing on June 5 during a relocation from Novokuznetsk. Pulkovo Airport reported that Malysh escaped from his carrier during baggage unloading. Airport employees attempted to catch him, but he managed to get away.
Malysh was last seen alive on the morning of June 7, running along the roadside of the WHSD in the Vasilevsky Island area.
