An eight-year-old boy drowned in the Berd River in Maslyanino, Novosibirsk Oblast, on the evening of June 9th. He was swimming with his four sisters when the tragedy occurred.

The children went to the river without adult supervision, despite swimming being prohibited in the area. The oldest of the sisters is only 13 years old.

Local residents pulled the boy from the water after he drowned during swimming.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations is urging residents to exercise caution around water bodies. They emphasize the importance of not allowing children to go to rivers or lakes alone. Adults are advised to closely monitor children during recreational activities near water and to ensure they wear life jackets. Swimming should only take place on officially open beaches where rescuers are present.
