A significant traffic jam, stretching three kilometers, has formed on Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev Street in Novosibirsk due to ongoing road repairs. The congestion is particularly acute at the intersection with Nemirovich-Danchenko Street, where only one lane remains open to traffic.
The road work involves replacing a section of a 700 mm diameter heating main, spanning nearly 300 meters.
Drivers have expressed considerable dissatisfaction with the situation. One motorist commented on the decision to leave only one lane open on such a busy road.
The Novosibirsk Heating Grid Company had planned to commence the repairs on June 16th and aimed to finish them by July 15th. The company has pledged to investigate the reason for the earlier start date.
The General Director of the Novosibirsk Heating Grid Company previously indicated that communication repairs under roadways would significantly impact traffic. The construction of new communications under the intersections of Nemirovich-Danchenko and Vatutin streets, as well as Nemirovich-Danchenko and Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev, was expected to cause the biggest disruptions.
In related news, the Novosibirsk Mayor’s Office has announced a two-day ban on vehicles entering three cemeteries.
