Traffic Accident Involving Intoxicated Hockey Player

A serious car accident occurred on the Yekaterinburg Ring Road (EKAD) on the night of June 8th, involving Artyom Mitkin, an 18-year-old youth hockey player from “Avto,” who was driving under the influence. Mitkin sustained severe injuries and was placed in a medically induced coma.

The accident involved a Ford carrying Mitkin, another hockey player named Makar, and a 17-year-old girl named Sonya. The vehicle reportedly lost control at high speed, struck a dividing barrier, and overturned.

Makar, who was also a passenger, stated that he does not recall the accident itself. He woke up as he was being pulled from under the car. He is expected to remain hospitalized for approximately two weeks and will require crutches for a time after his release.

Sonya, the third passenger, sustained the least severe injuries, mainly bruises. She stated that the group had been relaxing in nature before the accident and that while they had been drinking earlier, they were sober by the time they left. She also said that she does not remember the moment of the accident.

Conflicting accounts initially emerged regarding the cause of the accident, with a version suggesting that Sonya might have inadvertently caused the crash by jerking the steering wheel during an argument. However, Sonya vehemently denies this version of events, asserting that the driver’s intoxication was the primary cause of the accident.

Makar initially seemed to remember Sonya grabbing the steering wheel, but now claims that he doesn’t remember anything. He also stated that getting into a car with a drunk driver was a mistake.
