A 55-year-old man in Tomsk has been detained and faces murder charges after fatally stabbing his ex-wife with scissors. The incident occurred at the man’s home on Belinsky Street following an argument.

The regional Investigative Committee reports that the man became enraged when his ex-wife refused his suggestion to stay with him. He then attacked her with scissors, inflicting multiple wounds to her chest and neck. The woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the crime and is currently in pre-trial detention. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Investigators are actively working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the murder. This incident follows a separate case in Chany, where police detained a suspect in the attempted murder of a woman. In that case, a woman was found with stab wounds and the investigation led to the arrest of her former cohabitant.
