The XII Trans-Baikal International Film Festival Kicks Off in Chita

The XII Trans-Baikal International Film Festival (ZMKF) commenced in Chita today, promising an engaging program for attendees. Residents and visitors can anticipate screenings of quality films and opportunities to interact with acclaimed artists. The festival’s grand opening was held earlier today.

This year’s festival is themed around family, with a focus on films about the Motherland and its heroes. Organizers have emphasized the importance of highlighting past and present acts of bravery and valor. The festival aims to showcase stories of love for home inspiring great deeds, demonstrating the sacrifices people make to protect their land out of patriotism.

The opening ceremony featured actress and TV presenter Agata Mutseniece and actor/TV presenter Georgy Peradze as hosts.

Prior to the ceremony, a traditional walk along the rhododendron path took place at 18:00, featuring numerous stars of Russian cinema, directors, and honorary guests.

The military-patriotic drama “Nakhimovites-2. Amber Coast” was screened after the opening ceremony, ahead of its nationwide premiere. The film follows students of the Nakhimov Naval School as they confront new challenges in safeguarding the country’s interests. The plot centers around a fourteen-year-old who demonstrates courage and heroism by preventing a terrorist attack.

The festival has garnered support from significant businesses in the Transbaikalia region, with Bystrinsky GOK serving as the general partner. The Highland Gold group of companies is also among the partners supporting the event.
