The Kiik Hydroelectric Power Station, once a vital source of power for several collective farms and villages in the Toguchinsky district, now stands in ruins, attracting tourists and photographers to its remnants. Located on the Inya River near the village of Kiik, the hydroelectric power station’s story reflects a bygone era of local energy independence.
Today, only the dam and the dilapidated building of the power plant remain. The site serves as a poignant reminder of the past and a destination for those seeking unusual landmarks.
Reaching the ruins is most convenient by car. The journey involves taking the Leninsk-Kuznetsky highway to the Karpysak turnoff and then proceeding through Toguchin, totaling approximately a three-hour drive one way.
For those inclined towards more adventurous travel, a longer hiking or cycling route is available. From the Izily railway station (Toguchinskoye direction), it takes approximately four hours to walk or 1.5-2 hours to cycle to the hydroelectric power station. This option caters to individuals who enjoy extended outdoor excursions.
