Terrorist Acts on Railways in Bryansk and Kursk Regions

Russian authorities have classified the bombings of railway infrastructure in the Bryansk and Kursk regions as terrorist acts orchestrated by Ukraine. The Investigative Committee of Russia, represented by Svetlana Petrenko, made the announcement on June 3, stating that the attacks intentionally targeted civilians.

The incidents resulted in seven fatalities and 113 injuries, including children, who are currently receiving medical assistance.

On May 31, a road bridge collapsed onto a passenger train traveling on the Pilshchino-Vygonichi section in the Bryansk region. The collapse, attributed to an explosion, caused the train to derail, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to over 100 others.

Shortly after the Bryansk incident, a similar explosion occurred in the Kursk region on the Ostapovo-Mikhailovsky Rudnik section. A bridge was destroyed, leading to the derailment of a freight train and injuries to the driver and two assistants.

Investigators are actively processing the scenes. Fragments of explosive devices and other material evidence have been recovered. Witnesses, victims, and Russian Railways employees are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
