Teenagers Detained for Vandalizing Train in Moscow Region

Two teenagers from the Moscow region have been detained for vandalizing a train on the Yaroslavl line. The incident involved smashing windows and filming the act, which was then shared on social media.

Law enforcement apprehended a 16-year-old girl and a young man following the incident on the train traveling from Fryazevo station. The teenagers allegedly used an axe to break the windows of the train car, recording their actions.

A criminal case has been initiated against the teenagers under the vandalism statute (part 2 of article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Authorities estimate the damage to be approximately 150,000 rubles.

The teenagers have been released on their own recognizance, while their parents face charges for failure to fulfill parental duties (5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). This carries a fine of up to 500 rubles for a first offense, with repeat offenses potentially incurring fines up to 5,000 rubles or administrative arrest for up to five days.

Similar incidents have occurred recently, including one on the MCD-4 line where a schoolgirl used a hammer to break train windows. Several months ago, a group of six young adults also vandalized a train on the Yaroslavl line, resulting in property damage and a criminal investigation.
