A 14-year-old boy drowned in the Ob River near the “Arena” park in Novosibirsk on the afternoon of June 4th. Rescuers and divers were dispatched to the scene, where they recovered the body.

The incident occurred while the teenager was swimming with other teenagers. He was unable to swim back to shore for reasons that are currently unknown.

Eyewitness Maria reported that rescuers were already working at the scene when she arrived. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that a police investigative team was sent to the location.

The Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region is currently conducting a criminal procedural investigation into the incident. Investigators are inspecting the scene and working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the drowning.

This incident follows a previous drowning in the Pervomaisky district of Novosibirsk, where a man capsized in a rubber boat on the Ob River.
