A 21-year-old taxi driver from Kyrgyzstan has been detained in St. Petersburg after a fare dispute with a passenger resulted in the passenger suffering a serious brain injury. The incident occurred on the night of May 31st near house number 4 on Lyzhny Lane.
The conflict arose over payment for the taxi fare. The driver allegedly struck the 57-year-old passenger in the head during the argument.
The passenger, a businessman, is currently hospitalized with an intracerebral hematoma and is in serious condition.
The driver was apprehended the following day in Zelenogorsk. Authorities confirmed he is legally residing and working in St. Petersburg with the necessary documentation. He is currently being held, and a case has been initiated for an administrative offense under the article “Battery.”
