Russia has suspended vehicle type approvals (OTTS) and banned the import and sale of DONGFENG, FOTON, FAW, and SITRAK trucks due to identified safety violations. Rosstandart, the supervisory authority, announced the suspension on July 30, citing concerns over driver and road user safety.
The violations include an ineffective braking system, excessive noise levels, incorrect identification of controls, and the absence of emergency call devices. These issues were discovered during routine checks and deemed to pose a significant risk.
Rosstandart has mandated that official representatives of the affected companies create a program to rectify the violations. This program must address both vehicles already in operation and those that have not yet been sold.
Dealers are required to contact owners of trucks subject to the recall and eliminate the identified deficiencies at no cost to the owners. This action aims to ensure that all affected vehicles meet the necessary safety standards.
The suspension will remain in effect until the identified violations are fully addressed and corrected. Rosstandart will continue to monitor the situation and reassess the status of the affected brands once the corrective measures have been implemented.
