Summary of June 1st Events in Russia

Several incidents occurred across Russia on June 1st, including terrorist attacks on railway tracks, a drone attack on a military unit, and a parachute tower accident.

Terrorist attacks disrupted railway operations in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Two bridges collapsed due to the attacks. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has launched criminal cases. In the Bryansk region, a tragic attack resulted in 7 fatalities, including a train driver and two children, and 71 injuries. Eleven of the most severely injured individuals were transported to hospitals in Moscow for specialized treatment. In the Kursk region, three railway workers sustained injuries but are reported to be in stable condition. An additional explosion in the Bryansk region damaged a railway track; however, no injuries were reported in that incident.

A military unit near the village of Sredny in the Irkutsk region experienced a drone attack, marking the first such incident since the commencement of the “Special Military Operation”. The drones were reportedly launched from a truck, causing traffic congestion on the P-255 highway.

Separately, in Yekaterinburg, a 20-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after an accident at a parachute tower. The incident occurred during a jump from the 33-meter tower in a local park. Preliminary assessments suggest that the safety cable may have been too long. The woman was hospitalized with multiple injuries and is currently in moderate condition. The prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
