A first-year student at Novosibirsk State University (NSU) saved a young girl from being swept away by a strong current near the “Arena” park on Monday, June 3rd. Andrei G. was walking with his girlfriend when he noticed a group of girls, aged 10-12, calling for help.

The student’s father, Maxim, recounted that his son saw one of the girls being carried away by the current. Without hesitation, Andrei jumped into the water to rescue her. He realized that there was a sharp drop-off and a strong current, making the rescue more challenging. Andrei managed to help the girl reach shallow water, and she reported feeling well afterward.

Park officials confirmed that swimming is prohibited in the area, and there is no designated beach within the park. Signs prohibiting swimming are in place due to unmarked depths, underwater currents, and other potential hazards.

The Municipal Institution “Emergency Rescue Service” emphasized the importance of parental guidance regarding water safety. They stressed that warning signs near bodies of water are there for a reason and that parents should educate their children about the dangers. The agency also clarified that in the event of an incident involving a child, the legal guardian bears primary responsibility.
