St. Petersburg will establish a register of restaurants permitted to sell alcohol at night, following a recently adopted law restricting alcohol sales in catering establishments within residential buildings. The Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade will oversee the register in collaboration with district administrations.
The move comes as a response to legislation that, starting September 1, prohibits retail alcohol sales from 10:00 PM to 11:00 AM in catering establishments located in residential buildings, excluding New Year’s Eve. This restriction aims to address concerns related to “nalivaikas” (small bars) operating late at night.
The ban does not apply to restaurants meeting specific area and technical requirements. The newly drafted resolution outlines the procedure for maintaining the restaurant register, ensuring compliance with the law.
