St. Petersburg is set to broaden the list of individuals eligible for financial compensation from the city budget if they sustain injuries or wounds during the special military operation. The Committee on Social Policy has prepared a draft decree to amend the existing regulations.
The proposed change adds a new clause to the decree “On providing one-time material assistance to certain categories of persons participating in a special military operation and receiving a wound (contusion, injury, mutilation).”
Currently, the decree covers two groups: military personnel and members of the National Guard with special police ranks, as well as individuals sent by the St. Petersburg Military Commissariat to volunteer formations.
The new addition encompasses a broader category: “persons who have entered into a contract (or had other legal relations) with an organization that facilitates the performance of special tasks assigned to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and who directly participate in the special military operation.”
The payment amounts will remain consistent with the existing structure: one million rubles for disability group I, 750,000 rubles for disability groups II and III, and 500,000 rubles for injuries or wounds that do not result in a disability.
This initiative follows previous measures in St. Petersburg to support combat veterans, including providing access to sanatoriums, dental care, and medications at the city’s expense. Furthermore, participation in the special military operation has been added to the criteria for determining eligibility for assistance to low-income individuals.
