Sergei Sosorev, a St. Petersburg restaurateur, faces an attempted murder charge following a high-profile car accident on Peterhofskoye Highway on May 31st. The incident, captured in shocking footage circulating online, has drawn significant public attention due to the involvement of a white Rolls-Royce and the driver’s identity.
A criminal case was initiated against Sosorev on June 2nd, allowing his name to be legally mentioned in connection with the incident. Public outrage and investigators’ findings align, suggesting Sosorev was responsible for the accident.
Sosorev, who recently turned 37, has built a substantial business primarily based on rental properties. He holds significant stakes in several establishments, sometimes as a majority shareholder and other times as a junior partner.
In April 2025, Sosorev became the largest co-founder of Art Hookah Family LLC, a project involving entrepreneurs Artem Sinyakov and Kirill Glushchenko. This venture includes the Tangiers Lounge network, comprising 11 establishments in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, and the Dalicy Hotel. Sosorev holds a 34% stake in the company, while Sinyakov and Glushchenko each retain 33%.
Sosorev also owns 100% of the Tangiers Lounge hookah bar on Obvodny Canal, which generated 30 million rubles in revenue and 2 million in net profit in its first year. He co-opened another location with Artem Sinyakov on Khersonsky Proezd.
Additionally, Sosorev holds a 35% stake in Family Tobacco LLC, a company producing tobacco products that has not been profitable since its founding in 2021. He also has a 50% stake in Prygskok LLC, registered at the address of the former “Gorka” restaurant in Solnechnoye, suggesting plans for a new hookah restaurant at the location.
Independently, Sosorev serves as the chairman of the board of the real estate owners association “Vsevolozhsky, 29” in Vsevolozhsk, a local service building with various tenants.
Prior to his current ventures, Sosorev was involved in internet-based businesses related to advertising and promotion, holding junior partnerships in five companies that are now liquidated.
The accident on Peterhofskoye Highway has brought Sosorev’s past traffic violations and disregard for traffic laws to light. Details regarding his fines, license suspensions, and instances of driving after being prohibited are being scrutinized.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Sosorev faces a second criminal case related to violating traffic rules, resulting in serious harm to health. This charge carries a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment.
