Heavy rainfall has transformed some streets of St. Petersburg into temporary mini-lakes, causing inconvenience for both pedestrians and drivers. The downpour, as predicted by weather forecasters, led to significant water accumulation in certain areas of the city on June 9.
Passers-by are facing challenges navigating the flooded sidewalks. Many are forced to leap over large puddles, while others attempt to cross using makeshift pathways such as stones and curbs, often risking wet feet.
Motorists driving through the waterlogged streets are creating sprays of water, adding to the pedestrian’s woes.
Meteorologist Mikhail Leus from the Phobos center had previously cautioned that cyclones would influence the city’s weather patterns, bringing rain. The Federal State Budgetary Institution “North-West Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring” forecasts continued north-westerly, westerly moderate winds.
The forecast for Tuesday, June 10, indicates cloudy weather with possible light rain during the day. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range from +11 to +13 °С, while daytime temperatures will be between +17 and +19 °С. The west wind will blow at 5-10 m/s. Atmospheric pressure is expected to increase to 758 mm Hg, slightly below normal.
