St. Petersburg Ranks Among Top Three in All-Russian Student Olympiad

St. Petersburg students have achieved significant success in the eighth season of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a Professional,” securing a place among the top three regions in terms of prize-winners. This year, students from universities in St. Petersburg earned a total of 708 diplomas.

The Olympiad saw the participation of over 185,000 students from 89 regions across Russia. Participants competed in 71 diverse fields, ranging from design and law to medicine and artificial intelligence.

Students from St. Petersburg demonstrated exceptional performance in areas such as Jurisprudence, Linguistics and Literary Studies, General Medicine and Pediatrics, and Design.

Andrey Betin, General Director of the “Russia – the Land of Opportunity” presidential platform, highlighted the high level of student engagement and the outstanding results as an indication that the region is training personnel for the future of the country.

The most successful universities in St. Petersburg were St. Petersburg State University, ITMO University, and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Valeria Kasamara, the head of the Olympiad, noted that universities in St. Petersburg consistently produce competitive graduates, and the level of training improves each year.

Diploma winners of the Olympiad gain access to internships in major companies and receive advantages when applying for further education. Medalists are awarded cash prizes of up to 300,000 rubles.

The “I am a Professional” Olympiad, supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, has been held since 2017.

The project aims to evaluate students’ knowledge and facilitate their career development. Diploma winners receive benefits for master’s and postgraduate admissions, while medalists are awarded cash prizes and internship opportunities in leading Russian companies.

Over the past eight years, more than 1.4 million students have participated in the Olympiad. Over 4,000 have become medalists and over 28,000 have become diploma winners, earning the right to enroll in top universities across the country.
