St. Petersburg authorities are addressing the issue of overheating in residential buildings, particularly during periods of fluctuating temperatures. Vice Governor Sergei Kropachev addressed the St. Petersburg parliament on June 11, responding to concerns raised by Deputy Marina Shishkina regarding this prevalent problem.
Kropachev explained that current heat suppliers face limitations in providing consistently comfortable temperatures for all residents. Adjusting water temperatures in heating pipes is a slow process, and rapid changes can potentially damage the heating mains.
He stated that the authorities are exploring a new approach involving attracting investors to construct energy-efficient systems, including individual heating points. These systems are expected to provide more precise temperature control within individual homes.
Furthermore, Kropachev highlighted the need to enhance the energy efficiency of buildings, especially in older housing stock. He acknowledged that both overheating and under-heating issues exist, emphasizing the ongoing efforts across the housing sector to mitigate winter overheating.
