The St. Petersburg Heating Network has denied any connection to the deformations and cracks observed in the paving slabs on the 6th-7th lines of Vasilievsky Island. This statement comes after reports surfaced regarding the sidewalk’s condition following the commencement of nearby network reconstruction.
The Heating Network clarified that their responsibility extends only to the paving slabs within their designated work area. The slabs within the construction zone have been removed for the replacement of communications and are slated to be restored by the end of 2026.
The company emphasized that the granite slabs located outside the construction site fences fall outside their area of responsibility. They assert that these slabs have not been subjected to any negative impact from their operations, nor have they been used for equipment passage or material storage. The company claims the slabs have been preserved in their original condition.
The Heating Network’s press service directed attention to Yandex Maps panoramas from previous years, suggesting that the slabs and steps on the street were already in a less-than-ideal state. Equipment is being transported to the work area via Andreevsky Boulevard, where pedestrian slabs are protected with wooden decking.
The company’s project on the 6th-7th lines of Vasilievsky Island involves replacing over 4,200 meters of networks, with work commencing in late May and a planned completion date for both repairs and landscaping restoration by the end of 2026.
Fontanka has reached out to the Committee for Improvement to inquire about potential plans for repairing the pedestrian tiles on the street following the completion of the Heating Network’s project.
