St. Petersburg experienced its warmest day of the year on July 30th, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius by noon.
The peak temperature reached 31.8°C (89.2°F) by 3 p.m., surpassing the previous high recorded on July 25th. According to Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the “FOBOS” center, the city narrowly missed breaking the daily record for this day, which was set in 2012 at +32.1°C.
As a response to the heat, free water is being distributed to commuters at several metro stations throughout the city, including Prospekt Veteranov (vestibule 2), Ploshchad Lenina (vestibule 1), Prospekt Prosveshcheniya, Petrogradskaya, Gorkovskaya, Admiralteyskaya, Sennaya Ploshchad, Dostoevskaya, Ladozhskaya, and Mayakovskaya.
Adding to the unusual warmth, the night of July 30th was also the warmest recorded since the beginning of 2024 in St. Petersburg. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts for the evening.
